Being a fan of braised goose, I wanted to make a visit to Hung's Delicacies (阿鴻小吃), a one Michelin star eatery which specializes in braised meat when pinkgloves recommended it to me. The husband who tried it with his colleague, had nothing but praises for it and that made me more curious to want to try it for myself.
We went down on a Saturday afternoon at 2.30pm, thinking we could avoid the lunch crowd and were surprised to see a small group of people waiting outside the restaurant in North Point. We got our names added to the list and waited about 20 minutes for a table.
We ordered braised eggs as appetizers and each had a braised goose and steamed chicken noodle set. The braised eggs were tasty and I may be biased, but I still prefer my Dad's homecooked version.
Don't be deceived by the photo above. The braised goose may look bland but it was very well marinated and tasty. Indeed, there's something special about the gravy which has been used to marinate the meat. Unfortunately, the meat was a tad overcooked. The husband commented that the meat was more tender the last time he tried, so I'm probably just unlucky. The chicken was also yummy but the goose, Hung's signature dish, was still the star of the show. Oh and I liked the springy noodles which were soaked in the braised meat gravy. I would want to come back to try the braised goose again, because I believe in second chances :)
