My Husband, My Fashion Advisor

Over WhatsApp,

Me: "I'm thinking of getting this dress, (sends link). Maybe I can wear for C's wedding? What colour should I get?"

Him: "Green will blend in with the grass."

Me: "Yah, that's true."

Him: "Black is common."

Me:"Red?"

Him:"Yah, red."

And so, I bought the red dress :)

Days in Hong Kong - Xi Yan

One of my best meals in Hong Kong was at Xi Yan.

Every dish, which we enjoyed in a stylish, cosy environment, was impeccable.

Soup of The Day
Sauted Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk - These were fingerlicking good!
Dan Dan Noodles with Peanut Sauce
Wa Wa Cai (娃娃菜) in Fish Broth
The husband had matcha tang yuan with black sesame filling while I had the apple crumble ice cream dessert

Days in Hong Kong - Kwan Kee

Kwan Kee is an old-school eatery which is famous for its claypot rice and other claypot dishes. We loved the food so much we made a return visit (will blog about it in a separate entry).

 Claypot Rice with Chicken.
The rice was fragrant and the chicken was juicy and tender. The only gripe I had was - instead of dark soya sauce, you drizzle light soya sauce for the HK version. I prefer dark soya sauce because it gives the rice a stronger, caramelized taste.

Claypot Beef Brisket with Radish - this was superb!
  Stirfried Kailan with Garlic

Days In Hong Kong - Yung Kee

I've been to Yung Kee several times and it never disappoints. Can't get enough of the roast goose and the century egg. Oh so yummy! No wonder it's pertually crowded with both tourists and locals. Reservations are recommended, even on weeknights.

Days In Hong Kong - Lan Fong Yuen

I've always preferred tea to coffee (but I'll make an exception for latte) and I loveeee Hong Kong's milk tea. It's stronger, milkier and has more oomph. It's a pity we can't find milk tea of the same standard in S'pore.

The husband brought me to the Lan Fong Yuen (蘭芳園) branch at Sheung Wan, to have a cup of their famous milk tea. Lan Fong Yuen is famous supposedly first invented pantyhose milk tea in the 1950s. Yes, you heard me - pantyhouse. The tea is filtered through a long stocking (which resembles a pantyhose) and the process filters out any sediments and somehow results in a silky smooth brew.

I was a little disappointed, to be honest, when I took a sip of my milk tea. The tea was smooth, but I found the tea too strong for my liking (apparently several types of tea leaves are brewed together for 13 minutes, hence the strength of the brew). Perhaps we should have visited the main branch at Gage Street, Central.
