Down Under Day 4: Bath Houses and Markets

Drove back to Melbourne from Phillip Island and along the way, we made a stop at Brighton Beach to snap photos of the colourful bath houses.

The following photographs are worth AUD$58.

Because we received a parking fine!

Plain unlucky because we had the intention to purchase a parking ticket but did not as we had run out of loose change. Oh well.

After our 'fine' experience at Brighton Beach, we drove back to St Kilda and checked back into Cosmopolitan Hotel. Took a walk along the Esplanade Market and checked out the stalls selling everything from knick knacks to art pieces, before heading for lunch at Phamish.

Luna Park, St KildaHis crispy Beer Battered Fish n Chips which were pretty good
My Pumpkin and Parmesan Cheese Ravioli which was divine
We then took a tram into town and hopped on another tram to Queen Victoria Market, which dates back to the 19th century and is the largest open air market in the Southern Hemisphere. I love going to markets to take a look at the fresh produce. Dinner was two slices of warm pizza from the market :)

En route, we saw this but were too full to try the fries

Where's my pot of gold?
I couldn't fathom why everyone, except us, were unfazed by the rainbows. As the trip progressed, we realised that rainbows were a common, almost daily sight, which probably explains why no one cares.

Flinder's Street Station - another iconic Melbourne landmark

  1. It's sad to think that no one cares about rainbows, even if you can see them everyday...

  2. So that's where the colourful houses are at, Brighton Beach! Always wondered where they were (there similar ones in Lyme Regis in UK). Great pictures, and man, the fish and chips look awesome!

  3. yz - Yes, i think we were the only ones who were snapping whenever we saw a rainbow :S

thepleasuremonger - Yup i always wondered too as they're always featured in ads for Melbourne. Had to do a bit of online research before finding out that they are there. The fish and chips were good, but not as great as the ones we ate when we were on the Great Ocean Road haha.
